People who were not born in the Netherlands can be buried in their home country after their death. If your loved one returns to their home country after he or she died during vacation, work or internship in the Netherlands, we call it repatriation. The definition of repatriation is “returning foreign people to their home country”.

Do you want to have your loved one buried abroad? We help you make the repatriation abroad fast, respectful and in accordance with all regulations. Thanks to our experience since 1979, we can repatriate the deceased to all countries of the world.

Repatriëring met vliegtuig

Own mortuary at Schiphol

Repatriation by plane is done from our mortuary at Schiphol. For distances up to 1500 km (on request also longer distances) we provide funeral transport by car. In both cases we will of course handle all customs formalities for you. For examples, this include contact with the embassy, a laissez-passer, an extract from the death register, translation of documents and possibly a release for transport.

Of course we respectfully take care of the deceased before and during the trip. For example, we apply a slight form of embalming (thanatopraxia), which ensures that the decomposition process stops temporarily. The deceased therefore looks more natural on arrival abroad.

Moreover, the deceased is well packed with special foil (FlexCoSeal®) or the air and watertight zinc coffin is transported sealed. So you can be confident that we offer optimum care.

Is it important to be transported to the homeland as quickly as possible because of the religious beliefs of the deceased? Then we do everything to get this arranged for you. If the religious belief does not allow embalming, the deceased will not be embalmed.

Repatriation to neighboring countries in Europe costs around € 1,500 to around € 5,000. The costs usually increase as the distance increases. Repatriations that cost more than € 10,000 are not common, but the costs depend on the country of death and the circumstances of the death. In most cases these costs are covered by the travel insurance and / or health insurance.

The amounts mentioned are indicative, you can therefore not derive any rights from it. You will always receive a quotation from us in advance. This includes the costs for the formalities and for the work of our local partners. Once you have paid, you are assured of our service.

We do everything we can to repatriate your loved one abroad as quickly and smoothly as possible, so that you are not bothered too much during your grieving process.
